Who would have thought it could be this easy to get 33 days into the Insanity Workout schedule? Don’t get me wrong, it’s been work! When I say “easy” I am referring more to the ease of staying active and showing up each day rather than the actual workout itself. The Insanity workouts kind of suck while you’re doing them.
In fact, if I didn’t know better I swear I lose about a gallon of sweat while I only consume maybe 16 oz during the workout. Where does all this liquid come from? =D
Insanity Workout Motivation = 8
At this point I am still eager to show up each and every day. In fact, today I had to push myself into the workout a little earlier than usual. Typically I have been pushing play in the afternoon just because I am dead weight in the morning. But today is a special day – Today the Avengers releases in theaters! To beat the rush a few friends and I decided we should go to an afternoon showing. So with that I was compelled to get my workout done so it’s not hanging over my head.
My tip of the day: Get your workouts in early. I don’t think there is really any physiological reason for doing it early compared to later, it’s more of a psychological thing. Maybe you’re different but to me there is nothing worse than having an unfinished workout hanging out over your head all day. Then when you want to relax and hang out at night you feel guilty you have not pushed play. Even if you do you now have to cancel any fun late night plans and that’s no bueno.
In my past several weeks of posting I mentioned that my workouts were spot on (and they still are). But I also talked about how my nutrition was kind of hit or miss.
To keep this blog fresh and honest I must update that my nutrition is still the same. Probably a 5-6 on a scale of 1-10. I’ve been eating out A LOT, like every day. While I am not eating at McDonald’s or other fast food places I have been visiting one of my favorite places more than I should… Cracker Barrel. I always end up getting the breakfast sampler.
While the sampler is definitely a primal dream it’s also kind of greasy. Not helping me on my goal of reducing body fat lol. So far my body fat has remained about the same since I started and that I can contribute to my eating.
But while my eating has not necessarily led to a ripped 6 pack at this point I also have not suffered any mid workout bonk or cramping. At least I know I am getting proper macro and micro nutrition to power through each and every day.
One more tip before I go: If you find you are exhausted during your workouts beyond the normal tired you may want to look at your calorie intake. Also, if you get excessive cramping then you are lacking nutrition. You would be shocked how much adding 200-300 more daily calories can solve these issues. Remember, it’s not unlikely for someone to burn upwards and even over 1000 calories in one Insanity DVD session.
Don’t eat less, eat more. Even if you’re trying to lose weight with Insanity I would not recommend going below 1500-1800 calories. If you find your weight loss has staled try bumping up your calories by 200-300 per day for a week and see what happens!
Keep doing what it takes!
